Westone Audio's AM Pro X series introduces the innovative StageSense™ technology, a passive filter system that seamlessly integrates ambient sound with the in-ear monitor signal without compromising audio quality. The StageSense™ filter, built directly into the housings of all AM Pro X models, provides linear attenuation of external noise, allowing musicians to hear and feel their surroundings while still receiving the full-frequency response from their monitor mix.

The HearWiki takeAI-condensed

The Westone AM Pro X20 is a wired, dual balanced-armature in-ear monitor designed for musicians and audiophiles, offering a V-shaped sound with clear vocals and good separation. Its ambient pass-through feature aids stage awareness, though the bass is lean and the design doesn't isolate much noise.

What works

  • Clear vocal clarity and separation
  • Natural tonality for a balanced presentation
  • Comfortable fit for extended use
  • Detachable MMCX cable for easy replacement
  • Ambient pass-through aids stage awareness

What doesn't

  • Bass is lean, lacking fullness
  • Limited low-end extension
  • Ambient design reduces soundstage openness
  • Non-isolating, may leak sound into microphones

The reviewer found the AM Pro X20 to be especially strong for vocal clarity and separation, with a natural tonality and useful ambient pass-through for stage use. The main weaknesses noted were lighter bass and limited extension, so it is not ideal if you want a fuller low end.

This review praised the earphones for clear vocals, a balanced presentation, and excellent comfort. It also noted that the bass is lean and the ambient-pass-through design can reduce soundstage openness and potentially leak sound into nearby microphones.
