Review: The KZ SA08 TWS true wireless earbuds have 4 balanced armatures - but how does it sound? Tested vs Samsung Galaxy Buds and Fiil T1 Pro.

The HearWiki takeAI-condensed

The KZ SA08 TWS stands out for its unusual eight balanced-armature driver setup, delivering a detailed, mid-focused sound that appeals to audiophiles rather than casual listeners. Its build is comfortable and solid, but the tuning can be uneven, and the battery life is notably short at just four hours. It offers basic wireless features like AAC/SBC codecs, Bluetooth 5.0, and IPX4 splash resistance, making it a niche pick for those prioritizing driver technology over mainstream convenience.

What works

  • Distinctive 8-driver balanced-armature configuration
  • Comfortable and well-constructed fit
  • Lively detail retrieval in the mids
  • Supports AAC and SBC codecs with multipoint
  • Lightweight at 5.7 grams with IPX4 rating

What doesn't

  • Uneven tuning that can sound inconsistent
  • Short 4-hour battery life per charge
  • Bulky size may not suit all ears
  • No app support or custom EQ options

Eight balanced armature drivers... and yet the KZ SA08 sounds overly focused on the mids. It's sometimes impressive, sometimes plain bad. The SA08 isn't saved by its short battery life and its big size either. Buy KZ SA08 on AliExpress Buy KZ SA08 on AliExpress (possibly cheaper link) I bought the KZ SA08 to test and review myself. The Head-Fi listing compiles user/editorial impressions and manufacturer specs rather than a single unified verdict, but the consensus is that the SA08 offers a distinctive 4BA sound and basic TWS features like AAC/SBC and IPX4. It is presented more as a niche audio-focused model than a feature-rich mainstream earbud.

Prime Audio’s review focuses on the SA08’s unusual all-balanced-armature design and its technical specification set, emphasizing that it is a specialized product rather than a typical true wireless earbud. The review frame suggests strong interest in the driver configuration and a sound signature aimed at detail, not mass-market convenience.

The reviewer found the KZ SA08 interesting but not a clear all-round winner, pointing to uneven tuning and weak battery performance as major drawbacks. The overall impression is that the sound can be appealing in some respects, but the compromises make it a less compelling TWS choice.

The review describes the SA08 as a comfortable, well-built TWS with lively sound and good detail for the price, but not without limitations. It appears to score well in design and bass presentation, while still being an imperfect product overall.

Very bad case design and ok sound

Very bad case design and ok sound. It is very hard to put these headsets back to the case due to the bad design. Also, it won t turnoff when it returns to the case.
