Technics EAH-T700

Sound & Vision listed the EAH-T700 as a closed-back over-ear model with a two-driver setup and emphasized its premium, high-sensitivity design. The review was largely spec-focused in the provided result, but it clearly positions the model as a serious high-end headphone rather than a casual portable one.

TechSpot’s summary says the EAH-T700 stands out for its excellent build quality, distortion-free sound, and high sensitivity, especially with portable hi-res players. It also notes drawbacks such as an unpleasant tuning for music, heat buildup around the ears, head pressure, and the lack of a padded storage case.

The Verge’s takeaway was that the T700’s design and ambition were appealing, but the sound did not live up to the look and price. The review specifically criticized harsh treble and exaggerated upper and lower frequencies.

What Hi-Fi found the EAH-T700 stylishly built and impressive at first glance, but thought its sound was undermined by poor timing, excessive treble, and weak musical subtlety. Their overall view was that the headphones looked premium but did not compete well at their price.
