HiFiMAN HE 1000 Unveiled

The reviewer finds the HiFiMAN HE1000 Unveiled to be a strong performer, noting it is better than other HE1000 variants they have tested, with improved vocal timbre and a smoother, less strident treble. They appreciate the consistent measurements and reduced mid-range dip, though they mention a slight excess around 4 kHz and recommend EQ for bass. They also note that while the unveiled design exposes the driver, the risk is lower than on the Susvara due to smaller gaps, and they consider the value of discounted older models to be better.

The reviewer considers the HiFiMAN HE1000 Unveiled to be an S-tier headphone and his favorite from HiFiMAN, praising its balanced tuning, excellent soundstage, and detail retrieval while noting it improves on previous models by reducing brightness and shoutiness. He prefers it over the Susvara Unveiled and finds it a strong competitor to the Immanis 2, though he notes the bass is not as impactful as some rivals and the midrange is less warm and soulful.

The reviewer finds the HiFiMan HE1000 Unveiled to be an outstanding open-back planar headphone that sets a new price-to-performance benchmark at $2,700. It improves on the HE1000 SE with a more open, unveiled design and enhanced technical performance, though it requires a quality aftermarket cable and careful handling due to exposed drivers. The reviewer highly recommends it for serious audiophiles.
