Campfire Audio Andromeda 2020

The reviewer finds the Campfire Audio Andromeda 2020 to be a very solid, safe, and engaging IEM at the $1000 price point. It features a balanced U-shaped tuning with improved pinna compensation and a tamed treble spike, making it more agreeable than the original. Its standout quality is exceptional imaging and a large soundstage, though its BA bass lacks dynamic slam and texture, making it less ideal for EDM.

The reviewer finds the Campfire Audio Andromeda 2020 to be a well-executed update to the classic model, with improved tuning that adds a slight upper-mid emphasis for a more W-shaped sound, while maintaining excellent build quality, comfort, and a versatile bass response. They consider it a strong value in the high-end segment despite the high price, praising its coherence and technical performance across various genres.

The reviewer tests the Campfire Audio Andromeda 2020 using a tone generator rather than music, and finds the frequency response severely flawed, with excessive bass, recessed mids, and multiple harsh peaks that make the sound unpleasant and artificial. He concludes the earphone is terrible and not worth listening to music with.

The reviewer finds the Campfire Audio Andromeda 2020 to be a significant improvement over the original, fixing the hazy upper mids and recessed lower treble while maintaining good bass and adding excellent imaging and layering. They highly recommend it, especially given its price compared to other flagships, though they note it is source-picky and can become bright with higher output impedance.

The reviewer re-evaluates the Campfire Audio Andromeda 2020 after hearing newer IEMs, finding it now sounds warm-tilted and less impressive than remembered. It has good but not exceptional bass and female vocals, while male vocals are outstanding. The soundstage is wide, but overall it no longer stands out as it once did.
