Skullcandy Aviator® 900 ANC

The reviewer finds the Skullcandy Aviator 900 ANC to be a premium, lightweight pair of headphones with excellent build quality and a comprehensive app. He is impressed by the sound quality, especially the dramatic volume boost in the custom EQ mode, and considers them a strong value at $300. Overall, he gives a positive recommendation.

The reviewer, a longtime fan of the original Skullcandy Aviators, finds the new Aviator 900 ANC a worthy modern update. While the out-of-the-box sound is underwhelming and the price is high, extensive app-based EQ customization, impressive noise cancelling, and strong battery life make it a competitive option against pricier mainstream rivals once tuned.

The reviewer initially had issues with distortion and spatial audio, but after a firmware update provided by Skullcandy, these problems were resolved. They now praise the headphones for their unique design, comfort, solid sound quality with tight bass, effective noise cancellation for the price, and convenient controls, concluding they are a fun and worthwhile pair.

The reviewer finds the Skullcandy Aviator 900 ANC headphones have a unique design, excellent battery life, and good sound after EQ adjustments, but they are marred by several software and performance issues, including inconsistent ANC, spatial audio resets, and random shutdowns, making them hard to recommend at their premium price until firmware updates fix these problems.

The reviewer finds the Skullcandy Aviator 900 ANC to be a decent but not outstanding pair of headphones, with effective noise cancelling for commutes and a bass-heavy sound profile that suits casual listening. They highlight the creative features like the display, customizable controls, and unique case as standout points, but note the sound quality is just okay and not for audiophiles. Overall, they enjoyed the quirky design and features, though they wouldn't buy them themselves.

The reviewer praises the Aviator 900 ANC's striking design, build quality, and thoughtful controls, but finds the sound quality merely average out of the box, with weak treble handling and limited codec support. Battery life and comfort are good, though the ear cups may be tight for larger ears, and the price of $300 is considered high for a Skullcandy product. Overall, it comes close to being a great flagship but falls short in audio performance.
