The HearWiki takeAI-condensed

The Sivga SV023 is an open-back, over-ear headphone that pairs a 50 mm dynamic driver with a 300-ohm impedance for a refined, balanced sound. Its premium build, comfortable protein-leather pads, and engaging presentation make it a strong all-rounder, though its bass response is modest and it demands a capable source to shine. With a 4.4 mm balanced connection and detachable cable, it suits wired listeners who value detail and imaging over portability.

What works

  • Premium build and attractive design
  • Comfortable fit with protein-leather pads
  • Balanced, open sound with good imaging and dynamics
  • Detachable 4.4 mm balanced cable
  • Easy to drive for its impedance, but pairs well with quality sources

What doesn't

  • Bass is light and may need EQ
  • High impedance can drain portable devices faster
  • Limited pad replacement options
  • Priced above earlier Sivga models

The reviewer is impressed by the Sivga SV023's sound quality, describing it as smooth, refined, and natural, with excellent detail retrieval and a comfortable fit. However, he is frustrated by the $500 price point, feeling that the build and accessories don't justify it, and he struggles to recommend it given the many competing options at that price. chuckolatte8.2K viewsJul 2023

The reviewer compares the Sivga SV023 to the Sennheiser HD600 and HiFiMAN Sundara, finding the SV023 offers excellent build quality and a warm, textured sound with good sub-bass for a dynamic driver, but notes a plasticky timbre in the mids and some sibilance. Overall, the SV023 is a strong contender with great value, though the Sundara wins on bass and technicality, and the HD600 remains the benchmark for natural mids and comfort.

Sivga SV023 - Lot or Little different than Sennheiser & Audio-Technica-Honest Audiophile Impressions

the Honest Audiophile5.9K viewsJul 2022

The reviewer finds the Sivga SV023 to be a well-built, comfortable, and good-sounding headphone, but notes that its elevated and sometimes harsh treble can be fatiguing, and that it lacks some note weight and naturalness compared to competitors like the Sennheiser HD 660S and Audio-Technica R70X. While it's not his first choice at $500, he appreciates its design, comfort, and overall sound quality, especially when paired with a good desktop amplifier.

Review of the Sivga SV023

Gizaudio5.8K viewsAug 2022

The reviewer finds the Sivga SV023 to be an excellent open-back headphone at its $449 price point, praising its beautiful build, comfort, and especially its precise imaging and detail retrieval. While the bass is slightly light and the treble relaxed, the overall balanced sound and high-quality accessories make it a strong competitor in its class, though it requires sufficient amplification due to its 300-ohm impedance.
