The Grado SR225e is an open-air, on-ear dynamic headphone known for its crisp, detailed sound and spacious soundstage, but it suffers from a harsh treble spike and uncomfortable L-cushion pads.
The HearWiki takeAI-condensed
The Grado SR225e is an open-back, on-ear wired headphone that delivers a lively, detailed performance with an impressively wide and airy soundstage. Its warm overall tuning is paired with a forward treble that can be sharp on certain tracks, and the foam pads may feel stiff during extended listening sessions.
What works
- Open-back design creates a spacious, immersive soundstage
- Crisp, revealing detail across the frequency range
- Warm signature adds body to vocals and instruments
- Lightweight build for its size
- Classic Grado styling with a retro look
What doesn't
- Treble can come across as harsh or sibilant at times
- Foam earpads are not very plush for long wear
- No inline controls or cable microphone
- Open-back lets in ambient noise and leaks sound
