The KZ ZAR is a hybrid in-ear monitor featuring one dynamic driver and seven balanced armatures per side, designed for audiophiles with a U-curve tuning. It includes an ergonomic ear-hook design, a detachable 2-pin cable, and an 8-strand silver-plated cable.

Reviewers agree the KZ ZAR is a well-built, comfortable hybrid IEM with a bass-heavy, warm tuning that improves on earlier KZ models, though most find its ~$80 price too high for the performance.
11:17The reviewer finds the KZ ZAR to be a significant improvement over its predecessor, the ZES, with better treble presence and cleaner sub-bass rumble. However, it retains KZ's typical bass-heavy tuning with some mid-bass bloat and treble sibilance. At $76, the reviewer considers the price-to-performance ratio not very competitive, though the sound quality is better than cheaper KZ models.
9:03The reviewer sees the KZ ZAR as a refined, more relaxed take on the KZ ZAS, correcting some of the ZAS's early treble peak and delivering a very bass-heavy, smooth, and non-fatiguing sound. While it's a solid upgrade for bass lovers and treble-sensitive listeners, the heavy bass masks detail, the treble is too subdued, and the $80 price feels high for what it offers.
15:48The reviewer considers the KZ ZAR to be KZ's best IEM in their traditional warm, bassy tuning, praising its detailed and punchy bass, comfortable fit, and engaging sound. They note it lacks some high-frequency clarity and openness compared to more balanced sets, and find the price a bit high, but overall recommend it for fans of KZ's signature sound.
7:03The reviewer gives a positive first impression of the KZ ZAR, praising its build quality, ergonomics, and balanced sound signature with good bass, detailed mids, and extended treble. They note the soundstage is not the widest but adequate, and they appreciate the mature tuning and quality cable, though they plan a full review later.
9:02The reviewer finds the KZ ZAR to be a decent but unremarkable hybrid IEM with typical KZ tuning—bassy and V-shaped with recessed mids. While it improves on the CCA HM20, it is considered overpriced at around $80, with the reviewer suggesting it would be more competitive at half the price. Overall, it's an okay set but not outstanding, especially when compared to similarly priced alternatives like the Truthear Hexa.
33:29The reviewer finds the KZ ZAR to be a well-built hybrid IEM with a comfortable fit, but criticizes its excessive bass tuning, which muddies the sound and reduces overall clarity and treble extension. While the mids are an improvement over the previous model, the ZAR is considered a step back compared to the KZ ZSX, and it does not surpass the PR1 Pro as the best KZ earphone.
