The KZ Merga is a dual-dynamic driver IEM featuring a 10mm super-linear inner magnetic driver for bass and an 8mm high-performance driver for mids and highs, with a PCB electronic crossover for precise frequency separation. It has a transparent black resin housing and a replaceable cable design.

Reviewers largely agree that the KZ Merga is an affordable, comfortable budget IEM, but they are split on its tuning: most describe it as very bright and treble-heavy, with some finding it sharp and unbalanced at normal volumes, while others praise its relaxed, natural mids and good clarity.
7:45The reviewer finds the KZ Merga to be a very bright, treble-heavy, V-shaped budget IEM that is similar to the KZ Vader HiRes but more intense and less balanced. It is a specialist set for listeners who prefer very low volumes, as it becomes uncomfortable and sharp at higher volumes. The reviewer prefers the Vader HiRes for its better treble balance and more general appeal, despite the Merga's lower price.
6:26The reviewer finds the KZ Merga to be a surprisingly capable budget IEM, offering a comfortable, relaxed, and natural sound that is well-suited for casual listening. While it lacks deep sub-bass and high-frequency extension, its midrange clarity and overall coherence make it a great value, especially when paired with a TWS adapter. The reviewer recommends it for beginners and as a simple, enjoyable alternative to more technical sets.
7:49The reviewer compares the KZ Merga against the two Castor versions, finding the Merga very similar to the Castor Harman but slightly inferior in detail, sub-bass, and build quality. They conclude that the Castor Harman is the better value and recommend it over the Merga, while the Castor Bass is the choice for bass lovers.
8:06The reviewer finds the KZ Merga to be an extremely bright and treble-focused budget IEM with a very recessed bass and lower midrange, resulting in a thin, hollow, and tinny sound. While the upper mids and treble are well-executed with good clarity and no harsh peaks, the overall tuning is too unbalanced for most listeners, making it a niche product that the reviewer does not recommend.
12:23The reviewer finds the KZ Merga to be a decent, well-tuned dual dynamic driver IEM that deviates from KZ's typical V-shaped sound signature. It offers a neutral-leaning bass, forward but non-shouty mids, and good detail, making it suitable for contemporary music, though it may disappoint fans expecting KZ's usual bass-heavy tuning.
7:01The reviewer finds the KZ Merga IEM to be a well-balanced and comfortable earphone with good build quality, offering a clear and detailed sound signature, especially when paired with an external DAC. The microphone works decently for calls, though the inline controls are limited. Overall, it is recommended as a solid budget option under 1000.
