The reviewer calls the HE1000se a reference-level headphone with outstanding detail retrieval and a highly resolving presentation. They also warn that its bright, peaky treble can become fatiguing or harsh on poorly recorded material.

The reviewer finds the HE1000se exceptionally clean, detailed, airy, and spacious, with strong bass and treble extension. They also note that its treble can sound bright or overly sharp, and the high price limits its value.

The reviewer describes the HE1000se as a world-class headphone that performs near the very top of the category. They say it is easy enough to drive, but the midrange has less warmth and body than they personally prefer, while the treble has plenty of sparkle without usually becoming fatiguing.

The reviewer focuses on the HE1000se’s technical capability and notes that its 35-ohm impedance and 96 dB sensitivity make it somewhat harder to drive than some other HIFIMAN models. The overall emphasis is on its demanding nature relative to easier-to-drive alternatives rather than a single numeric verdict.

The reviewer says the HE1000se is easy to drive and highlights its low impedance and high sensitivity as practical strengths. The review frames it as a capable, high-end planar that does not require an especially powerful amplifier.
