KZ PR1 Pro

The reviewer initially disliked the KZ PR1 Pro's sound but grew to appreciate it after several hours of listening, finding it intense, detailed, and excellent value at £65. He praises the included braided cable and foam tips, and recommends it for listeners who want an engaging, music-first experience, though he notes it may be fatiguing for some genres and not ideal for gaming due to average imaging.

The reviewer compares the KZ PR1 Pro to the original PR1, noting significant upgrades in the cable, ear tips, and internal driver structure. The tuning has been revised to reduce harshness and metallic sound, with less sub-bass and treble presence. Overall, the Pro version is seen as a more refined and improved iteration, though the rapid release cycle may frustrate recent buyers.

The reviewer concludes that the KZ PR1 Pro is a significant improvement over previous KZ planar models, offering a balanced V-shaped tuning that competes with more expensive planars like the S12 and Timeless at a much lower price. It serves as an excellent introduction to planar sound, though it lacks the last bit of detail and naturalness found in pricier competitors. The reviewer recommends it for those seeking an affordable planar experience.

The reviewer finds the KZ PR1 Pro to be a clear improvement over the standard PR1, with better clarity, smoother treble, and slightly stronger bass. They consider the upgraded cable and transparent shell to be worthwhile additions, and despite minor imperfections, they regard the IEMs as an excellent value at around $89, even preferring them to some far more expensive models for everyday listening.

The reviewer finds the KZ PR1 Pro to be a decent-sounding planar IEM with good clarity and detail, but notes it is ugly, requires significant power, and has a potential driver rattle issue on his unit. He recommends it only if the price drops to around $60, as the $80 asking price is borderline.
