ASTRO Gaming A50 Gen 5

The reviewer compares the Astro A50 Gen 5 to the A50 X, finding them nearly identical in comfort, controls, and sound, with the main difference being the dock: the Gen 5 uses USB-only connections while the X adds HDMI. He concludes the Gen 5 is the better value for most users, especially those not needing HDMI switching, and praises its microphone and simultaneous Bluetooth for work use, though he notes a slight bass reduction in his unit.

The reviewer explains that the A50 Gen 5 is a major upgrade over the Gen 4, with better drivers, a much-improved microphone, Bluetooth, and a new base station, but it lacks the HDMI switching and PS5 game/voice mixing found on the A50 X. They recommend the Gen 5 for most users unless those specific PS5 features are essential.

The reviewer compares the new A50 Gen 5 to the A50 X and older A50 Gen 3, finding the Gen 5 to be a strong, simpler, and more affordable option. He praises the identical headset quality, the improved microphone, and the streamlined USB-only base station, which he prefers over the HDMI setup of the A50 X. He concludes it's an excellent choice for power users who want a versatile, long-lasting headset.

The reviewer finds the Astro A50 Gen 5 to be a comfortable, premium-feeling gaming headset with excellent sound quality and a versatile base station, though the Bluetooth range is notably weak. They recommend it for gamers seeking a multi-platform headset with good audio and mic performance.

The reviewer finds the Astro A50 Gen 5 to be a premium-priced headset with several notable flaws, including a flimsy build, a poorly implemented Bluetooth feature that relies on the base station, and a lack of a 3.5mm jack for mic monitoring. However, they appreciate the reliable charging dock, long battery life, and comfortable fit for extended gaming sessions, concluding it's a mixed bag with some frustrating design choices.
