Generation & platform
The scores rank quality. This is the other question: is the newer one actually newer technology, or the same platform in a new shell?
Same generation
The Wavefun Wave Pro X is 8 years newer, but it is the same generation of hardware: nothing in the radio, the codecs or the noise cancelling separates them. The platform is level; the newer hardware shows up in convenience features instead - the Wavefun Wave Pro X adds Wireless charging and USB-C. For 8 years between them, that is a thin return - treat this as a restyle rather than a new platform.

What reviewers said
Grado Sr125x
The Grado SR125e is an open-back dynamic headphone known for its energetic, quick response and controlled low-end. While it can be driven easily by most sources, pairing it with a dedicated amplifier can unlock its full potential. Its sound signature includes a noticeable emphasis in the midrange, and the attached cable is quite sturdy but not user-replaceable.
- Pro:Fast, energetic sound
- Pro:Tight, well-defined bass
- Pro:Easy to drive without an amp
- Con:Prominent midrange spike may be fatiguing
- Con:Thick, non-detachable cable
- Con:Open-back leaks sound and offers little isolation
