Generation & platform
The scores rank quality. This is the other question: is the newer one actually newer technology, or the same platform in a new shell?
Same generation
Audeze Maxwell 2 (2026) against FiiO Ft13 (2025). These are the same generation of hardware - nothing in the radio, the codecs or the noise cancelling separates them. The platform is level; the newer hardware shows up in convenience features instead - the Audeze Maxwell 2 adds USB-C.

What reviewers said
Audeze Maxwell 2
No summary yet - we haven't aggregated enough reviews.
FiiO Ft13
The FiiO FT13 is a wired over-ear headphone with a 60mm dynamic driver, offering a broad frequency response and easy drivability thanks to its 32-ohm impedance. While its build quality and comfort are praised, its sound tuning is often described as uneven, with a dark midrange and bright treble that varies with the included ear pads. It is a technically capable but polarizing listen that may not surpass cheaper alternatives in the same lineup.

- Pro:Easy to drive with any source
- Pro:Wide frequency response and good detail retrieval
- Con:Tuning is uneven with a recessed midrange
- Con:Bright treble can lack energy or bite
- Con:Stock ear pads neither neutral nor balanced
