The reviewer praises the Ultrasone Pro 2900 for its distinctive sound signature with extreme low and high frequencies, which sets it apart from competitors and makes it a reference in its class, though it may not suit those seeking neutrality. Minor drawbacks include ear-cup cushions that unscrew easily.

The Pro 2900 is an exceptionally good 'bright-and-bassy' headphone that may be perfect for some listeners, but those who fatigue easily might prefer smoother alternatives. It is stunning on certain tracks, especially piano, but requires careful amplifier matching to avoid excessive brightness.

The reviewer finds the Ultrasone Pro 2900 to be a well-built, comfortable open-back headphone with excellent transparency, separation, and a wide soundstage, but notes that its bass and treble can be overly aggressive and fatiguing over long listening sessions. It excels with piano and steel string guitar, but is best paired with a darker-sounding amplifier to tame its brightness.
