The Moondrop KATO is a wired in-ear monitor featuring a 10mm ULT dynamic driver with a third-generation DLC composite diaphragm, offering low distortion and a reference-grade timbre. It includes interchangeable stainless steel and brass nozzles for sound tuning.

10:46The reviewer tested the Moondrop KATO for competitive gaming and found it to be excellent, particularly with the brass connectors, offering clean, fast, and precise directional audio that outperformed the Moondrop Aria and Apple earbuds in games like Valorant and Apex Legends. They preferred the KATO as their daily competitive IEM, though they noted the silver connectors were harsh and the overall experience still fell short of their over-ear DT 900 Pro X.
28:12The reviewer finds the Moondrop KATO to be a meaningful step forward for Moondrop's single dynamic driver earphones, despite sharing the same chassis as previous models. He praises its improved tuning, comfortable fit with the new spring tips, and high-quality included cable, while noting minor drawbacks like the stiff cable and lack of secure fit. Overall, he considers it Moondrop's best single dynamic driver earphone yet.
9:58The reviewer finds the Moondrop KATO to be an excellent value, offering a balanced, slightly relaxed sound with good technical performance well above its price point. They praise its build quality, comfort, and versatility, noting it excels as an all-rounder for both critical and casual listening, though they mention a preference for brighter tuning and note the brass nozzles' potential corrosion issue.
12:47The reviewer unboxes the blue colorway of the Moondrop KATO and re-evaluates it against current competitors in the $150-250 range. He concludes that the KATO remains one of the best IEMs under $200, offering a fun, safe tuning with good detail, though it faces strong competition from planars like the Timeless for detail retrieval. He advises owners not to upgrade to side-grades in the $200-300 range, suggesting saving for higher-end models like the Variations instead.
13:04The reviewer is highly impressed with the Moondrop KATO, praising its balanced tuning, excellent detail retrieval, and immersive soundstage that reveals new layers in familiar tracks. He highlights the premium build quality, comfortable fit (with caveats for larger ears), and versatile accessories, concluding it's one of the best IEMs he's tried and a worthy upgrade over wireless earbuds.
