Reviewers agree the Sennheiser HD 505 is a comfortable, lightweight headphone with a warm, smooth sound and excellent midrange, making it a solid update to the HD 560s.
28:22The reviewer finds the Sennheiser HD 505 to be a well-executed update to the HD 560s, with the main improvements being reduced clamp force for better comfort and a more refined, less bright tuning in the upper mids and treble. While it costs more, the reviewer considers the comfort upgrade significant and the overall sound quality excellent, making it a strong recommendation for those who found the 560s too clampy or shouty.
9:18The reviewer gives a positive first impression of the Sennheiser HD 505, praising its lightweight comfort, warm and smooth sound signature, and overall value. He notes it sounds similar to the HD 600 but with a darker treble, making it a more relaxed listen, though he criticizes the lack of a headband divot and the confusing Sennheiser naming scheme.
7:23The reviewer finds the HD 505 to be a good, enjoyable headphone on its own, but concludes that the slightly more expensive HD 550 offers a more engaging sound signature with better bass and treble, making it the preferred choice in the 5-series. He also notes that other Sennheiser models like the PC 38X and HD 6XX may offer better value depending on the user's needs.
7:57The reviewer gives initial impressions of the Sennheiser HD 505, noting it is comfortable and has a surprisingly present bass, but finds the lower treble elevation noticeable and the overall tuning darker than the 6 series, which may not suit everyone. Despite some tonal quirks, the midrange is excellent and the imaging is impressive, leaving the reviewer eager to spend more time with it for a full review.
