The Moondrop S8 is an 8-driver in-ear monitor with a three-frequency crossover architecture, designed to accurately match the VDSF target response. It features a 6N OCC single crystal copper core cable and a handmade polished UV-cured medical resin cavity.

Reviewers consistently praise the Moondrop S8 for its exceptional detail retrieval, clean tuning, and beautiful build quality, often calling it a benchmark at its price.
25:28The reviewer finds the Moondrop S8 to be an exceptionally detailed and revealing in-ear monitor, with a unique and immersive soundstage that can make music feel haunting or scary. While the treble can be too sharp on certain tracks, the overall experience is described as confusing, fun, and ultimately 'horrifyingly good', leading to a strong recommendation.
13:30The reviewer compares four kilobuck IEMs, including the Moondrop S8, and finds the S8 to be a well-tuned, target-hitting IEM with good treble extension and a balanced sound, though it lacks the imaging and dynamics of some competitors. It is ranked second in raw tuning behind the Sony IER M9, and is noted for its beautiful aesthetics but can build up pressure in the ear over time.
11:37The reviewer considers the Moondrop S8 an underrated and highly capable IEM, praising its exceptional technical performance, clean tuning, and build quality, while noting its poor stock cable and lack of dynamics. They believe it deserves recognition as a benchmark at its price point, though it faces stiff competition from pricier models.
23:50The reviewer compares the Moondrop S8 to other $800 IEMs, finding its technical performance outstanding with excellent detail and separation, and bass that is well-tuned. However, the tuning is not to his personal taste due to excessive upper-midrange shout and some treble aggressiveness, making it less balanced than the Blessing 2 for his preferences.
