Reviewers consistently praise the Meze Elite's exceptional build quality, luxurious materials, and outstanding comfort, often calling it a top-tier flagship that improves on the Empyrean with smoother, more balanced bass and a non-fatiguing, natural sound.
34:11The reviewer is highly impressed with the Meze Elite, praising its exceptional build quality, luxurious unboxing experience, and versatile sound that performs well on any source. He notes the new pads improve detail and focus while slightly reducing soundstage, and concludes the $4,000 price is justified by the engineering and craftsmanship, though he dislikes the 'Elite' name.
9:13The reviewer finds the Meze Elite to be an engaging, warm-sounding headphone with excellent build quality and comfort, offering two distinct pad options that effectively provide two sound signatures. However, he notes that while it is very detailed, it is not the most detailed for the price, and its treble response is its weakest aspect, lacking sparkle on metallic instruments. Overall, he sees it as a smooth, non-fatiguing, and natural-sounding headphone that suits a particular type of listener.
18:09The reviewer finds the Meze Elite to be an exceptionally comfortable and well-engineered luxury headphone, with a smooth, non-fatiguing tuning that improves on the original Empyrean's bass and treble issues. However, they note that the bass can still bleed into the mids, requiring EQ for some genres, and the included cable is not as premium as expected. Overall, it's a highly enjoyable headphone for relaxed listening, especially for rock and metal.
48:04The reviewer finds the Meze Elite to be a superb, highly enjoyable headphone that improves on the already excellent Empyrean, offering a more refined and technically capable sound while retaining the fun and engaging character. Despite minor ergonomic quirks and a stock cable that could be better, the Elite is considered a top-tier performer and a worthy upgrade for those in the market for a high-end headphone.
8:17The reviewer gives a positive first impression of the Meze Elite, praising its design, comfort, and build quality. He notes a clear sonic improvement over the original Empyrean, with a more refined and balanced bass, though he finds the treble and detail retrieval somewhat limited for the price. He plans a full review later.
