Wired and wireless headphones can both sound excellent. The useful question is not which connection is universally better, but which set of compromises fits where and how you listen.
A cable gives you a simple, predictable signal path. Wireless models give you freedom of movement, phone-friendly controls and features that a passive pair cannot provide.
A wired headphone receives its audio and power from the source or an amplifier. There is no pairing step, radio link or battery inside a conventional passive model.
A wireless headphone adds Bluetooth radios, digital processing, amplifiers and batteries. That hardware enables active noise cancelling, transparency modes, microphones, app controls and multipoint. It also means the product depends on firmware and a battery that will age.
