Headphonecheck described the Blue Byrd as a dynamic in-ear headset with a closed design and Bluetooth 4.2. It highlighted the included accessories, codec support, and light 6 g weight, presenting the model as a feature-rich neckband headset for its class.

SoundGuys judged the original Blue Byrd’s battery life as poor, measuring just over five and a half hours of playback. The review also noted Bluetooth 4.2, multipoint support, and higher-quality codec support, but the weak endurance was a major downside.

What Hi-Fi found the Blue BYRD to sound very good, but said the wireless design does not work as well in practice. The review criticized the short battery life, awkward remote, and neckband comfort, making the overall package less successful than the audio quality alone would suggest.
