AKG K712 Pro

The reviewer finds the AKG K712 Pro to be an excellent all-rounder for everyday listening, combining the comfort and musicality of the Sony MA900 with the technical detail of the AKG K612 Pro. It excels in vocal reproduction with a detailed yet non-fatiguing treble, and while it requires an amplifier and has a slightly plasticky build, it becomes the reviewer's top recommendation for a versatile home headphone, especially at a discounted price.

The reviewer finds the AKG K712 Pro to be a comfortable but plasticky headphone with a bright, smooth sound that excels in soundstage and gaming accuracy, but lacks bass and intimacy for critical listening. He concludes it is not worth the $400 price for music, though it is exceptional for competitive gaming, and recommends it only with sufficient amplification and at lower volumes.

The reviewer finds the AKG K712 Pro to be a unique and exciting open-back headphone with excellent bass extension and a wide soundstage, though its midrange tuning is noticeably colored and the treble has some peaks. He considers it a great value at its current price, especially as a complement to more neutral headphones like the Sennheiser HD 600, and notes that EQ can fix most of its tuning quirks.

The reviewer finds the AKG K712 Pro to be a well-rounded and highly capable open-back headphone, especially excelling in soundstage and gaming performance. While the build feels less durable and the headband requires a break-in period, the sound is natural, open, and inoffensive, making it a strong competitor in its price range.

The reviewer finds the AKG K712 Pro visually appealing and comfortable, but criticizes the sound for being nasal in the upper mids and slightly scooped in the mids, concluding it is not balanced. He prefers the cheaper K240 for sound quality, though he likes the K712's design and fit.
