Edifier WH950NB

The reviewer compares the Edifier WH950NB to the Sony WH-1000XM5, finding the Edifier offers very similar performance at half the price. While the Sony has slightly better noise cancellation, soundstage, and multi-point switching, the Edifier excels in battery life, ambient mode, and value, making it a strong budget alternative.

The reviewer finds the Edifier WH950NB to be a strong budget competitor to premium noise-canceling headphones like the Sony WH-1000XM5 and Bose 700, offering excellent sound quality, good ANC, and impressive battery life at roughly half the price. They note that while it lacks some premium features like wear sensors and has a slightly less refined button design, the overall value is outstanding, especially with LDAC support and customizable EQ.

The reviewer finds the Edifier WH950NB to be a stylish and well-built pair of travel headphones with strong bass-heavy sound, good ANC and transparency for the price, and useful features like wind noise reduction and safe volume. However, comfort is hampered by thin padding and sharp headband edges, the sound is overly bassy out of the box, and call quality suffers from an occlusion effect. Overall, it's a solid budget alternative to Sony and SoundCore, but not without compromises.

The reviewer finds the Edifier WH950NB to be a well-built, comfortable, and great-sounding pair of headphones that offer excellent value at roughly half the price of the Sony WH-1000XM5. While its ANC is strong but not class-leading, particularly with low-frequency noises, and the gaming latency is a bit high, the overall performance, sound quality, and features make it a worthy budget alternative.

The reviewer finds the Edifier WH950NB to be an excellent budget alternative to premium over-ear headphones, praising its strong active noise cancellation, solid build quality, and support for the high-quality LDAC codec. While the sound is generally good with deep bass, the highs lack some detail, and comfort can become an issue after a couple of hours. Overall, it's a highly recommended value pick.

The reviewer finds the Edifier WH950NB to be a comfortable, well-equipped pair of noise-cancelling headphones that offer good value at £180, but notes that the default sound quality is bass-heavy and lacks treble, requiring EQ adjustments for a better experience. They recommend them for casual listeners, not audiophiles, and acknowledge the ANC is decent but not on par with Sony or Bose.
