Beyerdynamic DT 700 Prox

The reviewer is replacing their long-used DT 770s with the DT 700 Pro X, praising the improved build quality, detachable cables, and more balanced sound while noting they are not a necessary upgrade for existing DT 770/990 owners. They recommend the closed-back 700 Pro X for most environments due to noise isolation, despite the open-back 900 Pro X sounding more spacious.

After a year of daily use, the reviewer highly recommends the Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X for its outstanding comfort, balanced and natural sound, and robust build with replaceable parts. While the price is significantly higher than the DT 770 Pro, the upgrade is justified for those seeking a versatile, top-tier headphone for studio, gaming, or casual use.

The reviewer compares the DT 700 Pro X and DT 900 Pro X, finding the DT 700 to be a clear winner with a well-tuned, subtle V-shaped sound and solid build, though comfort may be an issue for larger heads. The DT 900 has impressive bass extension and neutral mids but suffers from treble sibilance and a smeared, indistinct presentation, making it less competitive at its price point.

The reviewer gives his first impressions of the Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X, noting that while it is more expensive than the DT 770 Pro, it offers a more modern design, plush ear pads, and a user-replaceable cable system. He is cautiously optimistic, hoping the sound quality justifies the higher price, but he has not yet done a full review.

The reviewer finds the DT 700 Pro X to be an excellent, high-quality closed-back studio headphone, praising its comfort, build, and sound. They consider it well worth the price for creators and general use, despite minor issues with earcup size and the need for an external mic.
